While a few of my favorites are on the list (Jack London's "To Build a Fire," Ambrose Bierce's "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge," Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery"), there's one glaring omission. Sherman Alexie's, "What You Pawn I Will Redeem."
