From the list they have on Flavorwire, I'm sad to say that there wasn't a single one where I had both read the book and seen the movie....so I couldn't say if one was better than the other.
I will say, however, that Princess Bride and Dr. Strangelove were EPIC movies, and definately on my favorites list.
I'd also like to add Memoirs of a Geisha to Flavorwire's list. The movie was so much better than the book!
