Chicago's Division Street Bridge has been renamed for writer and historian Studs Terkel.
From a
piece in the
Chicago Sun-Times...
Terkel, who captured the essence of Chicago in the pages of his
best-selling oral histories, died in 2008. His work chronicled the lives
of common people and celebrities alike.
The Division Street
Bridge was first named for Terkel 20 years ago. The street's name is
reflected in the title of his first book of oral history, published in
1966. The book is called "Division Street: America."
