Looking for Melville in the South Pacific
The Los Angeles Times has an essay where the author, Sara Lippincott, searches for the author Herman Melville in the South Pacific.
Melville, most known for Moby-Dick, also wrote the seafaring novels Typee and Omoo, both bestsellers when they were published. Lippincott traipses around Marquesas, looking for any reminent of the great author who visited the islands during his lifetime.
Intrigued because you know very little about Marquesas (pictured above)? I knew very little myself, before educating myself here.
